Handbags for the holidays

Hello! We would like to introduce you to our special event. It’s time for our fourth annual Handbags for the Holidays event. As many of you know, we started three years ago collecting “gently used” handbags, and filled them with personal hygiene items, snacks and gift cards. We then distributed them to local organizations including the Baldwin Women’s Residence of the St. Petersburg Free Clinic, CASA and Gulf Coast Jewish Family And Community Services.

Our goal this year is to collect 150 to 200 handbags and raise $7500 to fill them.

This year we are again holding a “virtual fundraiser”. We have a foundation established in the name of our son Michael, whom we lost over six years ago in an auto accident. The name is the Michael A. Hano Family Foundation, Inc. The foundation has both a webpage and a Facebook page and donations can be made directly on the webpage via PayPal or credit card.

Last year we filled and distributed 125 handbags and we hope to increase that to 150 to 200 handbags this year. We then gather a group of volunteers to “stuff” the bags with the purchased items. The handbags can be dropped off by October 26 at the front desk of Parkshore Plaza, 300 Beach Dr. NE in St. Pete or to the home of Lisa Hein, 13747 Bermuda Dr., Largo. If you would like to volunteer to help fill the handbags, we will be doing that at the Parkshore Plaza social room on Saturday, November 3. We will provide a light lunch.

Thank you in advance for your support. Below are links to our website and Facebook page. Let us share some previous tributes to Michael as well as pictures and video of last year’s handbag collection and fundraiser.
